Size versus Brilliance

As much as you would want to have the biggest diamond with the best cut, somehow you will have to make a balance between them and not be too greedy given you are on a budget (so unless you have loads of money, this would not be of any concern). This is because the brilliance (affected by the cut) of a diamond contradicts with its size in some ways. The cut of a diamond can make it appear larger or smaller than its actual weight as we have discussed briefly in diamond shape. A diamond cut with a larger table would make the diamond appear larger than a diamond with a smaller table of similar weight. However, this can actually reduce the brilliance due to the result of a shallower cut. Hence, this boils down to your priority for a fixed carat. While some people are more concerned with the loss of fire and beauty others are satisfied by their illusionary larger diamond.
